A Closer Look at Amazon SEO
Everything you’ve heard about Amazon SEO is wrong. Yes, this is an unfortunate truth. Using that golden keyword twice in just the title, again in your bullet points, and yet again in your description is actually detrimental to your chances of winning the buy box.
There is an abundance of Amazon listing optimization methods that the saturated SEO industry “experts” recommend. Some of these methods are quite valuable – but other well-known Amazon SEO tactics, even the ones used by the largest sellers on the marketplace, are actually harmful.
What methods are truly effective when it comes to listing optimization, a nice boost in sales and winning the buy box?
Amazon Customers Have One Goal: Buy Something
If you want your listing to get the buy box, listen carefully. This is the most important detail about Amazon SEO to keep in mind: when someone visits Amazon.com, they’re ready to make a purchase. Viewers for traditional, non-ecommerce sites are not necessarily 100% ready to buy.
For this reason, it’s important to include only the most vital details as the average internet attention span declines by the day.
- Back end keywords: Keep your white hat on. It’s a relatively common practice for sellers to use the names of their competitors for back end keywords. DON’T DO THIS. It’s a serious violation (SP considers it misleading buyers) and will get you suspended.
- Say more in less words. Amazon’s character display truncates at surprisingly low numbers. Despite everything you’ve heard from other sellers, it’s best to keep your titles at only 60 characters or less.
- Say it once – don’t repeat information. Yes, this means that if you’ve already said it in the title, there is no need to say it again in the bullet points. If you have made one statement in the bullets, don’t say it again in the description. Short and sweet is always best.
- Images are top priority as far as listing content goes. Conversion rates skyrocket when the images are of great quality on your listing. Invest the effort and time to really take flawless images.
